Bring back 5cp to hl
-
Yea I said it I want 5cp back.
Mad?
Kick rocks goofy.
I feel like this map cup we should try something new and that is try 5cp with the b4nny config just to see lf we can potentially have more options to play with the map pool in the future.
I know some people shat themselves with 5cp due to the long ass stalemates but with that config maybe it was the fix that 5cp needed.I think it would be a nice change of pace from the standard. Who knows maybe some of you might like it as well.

@Bliztank Hard to have a forum war when its such a laughable idea.
EDIT: I figured that if I am going to respond to the thread, I might as well actually respond to the thread.
The issues with 5cp are different for both sixes and HL. Sixes was built upon 5cp as it’s core gamemode and the issues it has with stalemates in my opinion are fundamentally different.
Stalemates in sixes mostly revolves around the player limits and how essential each of those players are. Hence why having a boring SvS or single sack waves are the norm. You are only ever able to lose one person, if you lose two, you lose the point. Hence why the new b4nny config exists, the timer exists as a means to force teams to make a move and not sit around waiting for the perfect advantage that you would lose the game/round to otherwise.
Highlander’s stalemates are induced not from teams lack of a willingness to push, but rather the team compositions themselves. You run a perma engineer, heavy, pyro, and sniper, all are great at denying space, angles, and pushes all in one go. This significantly slows the game down and, unlike with sixes, you could lose 1/3 of your team and still be able to hold the point. 1/3 of your team could just be your scout, spy, heavy and you are still going to be able to hold gullywash mid no problem at all.
To conclude, I think the b4nny config would help, but not enough to actually solve the issues with 5cp and HL. I would much rather we throw maps into the map cup that have active devs and have an actual chance of being played.

I think it’s good and this is coming from someone who played in the hl 5 cp era. Good luck trying to convince these noobs tho
-
i think it could work. i dont think the gamemode is flawed for hl i think the maps are. a more open and less chokey map could theoretically work in all honesty. its just when people say bring back 5cp we all the think of process and gully lol. (bring back glassworks)

If we want to try a mode where both teams attack + defend the obj at once can we please try single-payload maps where both teams push back and forth or quite literally any of them that aren’t 5cp
-
@ethan u r so lame
-
@ethan don’t waste likes just take the problems of 5cp and put them on payload
-
map cup might be fun ¯_(ツ)_/¯
-
bahahahahahaha
-
C’mon man stop laughing…
-
I don’t even remember the issue with 5cp being stalemates, I remember that whichever team won the mid fight just rolled the rest of the round and you’d play 5 rounds in about 10 minutes. It was just boring.

This but do payload race instead. Unless we do PL_dogbread.

i’m pretty sure b4nny config with the +1 round winlimit & infinite timer would probably lead to a 3 hour 1-2 match
also for the pyro mains who complain about lakeside or vigil being poo poo wait until you experience 5cp pyro… depending on how teams play it can be a Fun Time

I remember in plat some seasons between like s20-s24 I heard of many matches being extremely ass stalemates but it was also on shit like process so. Out of the stock 5cp maps gully is the most tolerable in hl and it is still quite bad. Can’t remember how glassworks played but I think mid was a little whack iirc

lakeside pyro is the worse thing a human can endure in this game
EDIT: also would be willing to play 5cp cause we’ve been playing pl, koth, and cp_steel for too long.
-
@Xenagos I thought about plr but eventually realized it would probably never work in hl since the meta would likely be to sit your crust classes (engi pyro scout etc) dead still on the enemies cart once it crosses onto your side of the map. The reason i highlighted the single-payload solution instead is because it forces those crusty bums forward as soon as their team/combo wins a fight since they have to move forward with the payload
I dont know if that mode solves every problem that comes with simultaneous attack and defense (im not a game designer), but if a suitable single-payload map were to be proposed I think it would be worth testing
In my head it certainly sounds more exciting than 5cp at least

sure you we could do that and then we end up with another synthetic moment of having it tried three times and still no progress. like u guys tried vanguard in the first map cup and I felt that was the worst one to help get people to play 5cp.
like no shit people wouldn’t have played it.
