Koth_Lakeside Rebuild Announcement
Attention: koth_lakeside_r2 is being rebuilt and reworked!
It has become evident to the RGL staff over the past few seasons that koth_lakeside needs to be reworked to remain competitively viable. Issues have been apparent, but with the original map file (VMF) lost several years ago and no suitable replacement available, we have unfortunately had to continue playing the map in its current state.
However, we are pleased to announce that EvenNine, along with a small group, is in the process of trying to track down the original VMF for koth_lakeside_final or koth_lakeside_r2. If this effort is unsuccessful, Lakeside will be rebuilt from the ground up, addressing many of the current issues to create a better playing experience for everyone.
But we need your help! To fix koth_lakeside, we need a comprehensive list of all the issues it currently has. We are asking the community to submit any and all bugs and issues you can find with koth_lakeside_r2. This includes, but is not limited to, geometry eating explosives or projectiles, clipping issues, edge bugs, gameplay issues, strange or abusive sightlines, and any other issues you feel Lakeside has.
If you would like to be involved in the project and believe you have skills or insights that may be helpful, please reach out to myself (DusterDan35) or EvenNine (evennine) on Discord. We hope to make this a community effort, so do not hesitate to ask questions or make suggestions, regardless of your experience level.
To make issue tracking easier, we have created a Google Form that we ask you to fill out with a description of the issue you have found. Feel free to add your suggestions as well. If you encounter any issues, please reach out to EvenNine or myself, and we will ensure it gets added to the tracker.

update actually. I reached out to 3Dnj and we unfortunately do not have the VMF for the map. this does mean it’ll have to be rebuilt from scratch. work begins tonight to remaking begins tonight.

I fully support fixing the abundant clipping issues, but please exercise restraint with gameplay changes. If you want to go down that path, first get some top invite players in the discussion.
DavyC Our first step is to get a better version of R2 with bug fixes and some small quality of life changes. In which we already have a decently size list of things to fix. If and when we decided to do big changes to gameplay, we are more than happy to reach out to invite players for the discussion.

i have the lakeside_final_dev vmf file
any game play changes that are being looked atm are mostly around killing some of the sight lines and making obelisk slightly easier to leave from. the most radical changes i want to play test is opening up under dance floor and swap the doors in main. all other changes i want to do are performance and QOL changes. But as dan said first step is implementing the R2 fixes to final and make the changes that where being discussed last time the map was used. i will be making the jira public after i get all the information into it!!! but for now here is the list i got from last time the map was getting an update. https://imgur.com/a/0ziIYet

i have the D2 version live. i am still looking for feedback on the issues the map has. neither my or RGLs questions have given me anything good to work with. i have some ideas from several people but i very much would like more.

The changes are all stuff I didn’t know I wanted, but my favorite is definitely the better lighting in pool. That aspect of Lakeside is so weird in _final and _r2
This map also presents an opportunity to call it “boats” instead of “main door”, which is half the syllables and more fun to say
R4 version of the map is live. lots of changes to the map restricting many sight lines. more ammo has been added aswell and i have made it easier to edge point without peaking bathhouse
