Remove the dispenser block from Upward last
As of right now, there are no valid candidates for an Upward replacement.
We are playing on version 10 of Upward refresh, which removed sightlines such as the box spot, but still hasn’t removed the dispenser block on last.
In previous years, the default hold for Upward was holding tiles. Many teams still hold tiles, but hopefully last night’s cast on Upward showed the power of holding “pub spot” where your entire team plays upper spawn. This spot has been used since season 10, and teams still haven’t figured out how to deal with it.
The pub spot is an extremely easy hold to do, and it is extremely reliant on the offense sniper to getting kills. This is probably one of the hardest points to snipe from, because you’re taking spam while the defense sniper is actively looking for you.
So if the offense sniper is unable to do anything, your spy should be able to create openings? But it’s impossible for the spy to do anything on last because of the dispenser block. The soldier can destroy the dispenser, but it telegraphs that the spy wants to cross into upper. A scout or pyro can then just sit where the dispenser was thus preventing the spy from crossing, until the dispenser is rebuilt.
There are other problems with the hold making it too easy, such as it is right next to spawn (Vigil last was changed recently to make the spawn door farther), but I think we should see how the pub spot plays without a dispenser block before making any more drastic changes

the dispenser block has always been a really strong addition to upward last defense, but its made more egregious when your pyro is at spawn instead of in tiles. before, if the dispenser was dead, it was just the engineer you had to avoid. with the rest of the team at spawn, its impossible to get a lot done as spy because you’re forced to take these ranged fights where your revolver does 20-30 damage.
spy is reduced to enforcer-ing a gun and then just sitting there hoping the defense drops down at some point
