If admin positions are filled, we may contact you to potentially join the staff as a moderator instead.
In addition to the above, we are also looking to recruit experienced and talented individuals in the following categories:
Discord or Forum Moderator - As a moderator, you will be tasked to monitor the chat and deal with issues as they come up. A thorough understanding of the rules is necessary for this area. Candidates will be using our moderation tools (depending on either the forum or Discord) to effectively moderate our chat platforms.
Video Editor - As a video editor, you will be using programs like Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, and other software to help edit and produce videos on the RGLgg YouTube channel and clips to feature on our RGLgg Twitch channel, whether this is highlight reels, introduction videos, or frag clips.
Social Media Manager - As a social media manager, you will create posts on our various social media platforms, as well as engage with the community through social media. This will help us send out timely information, promote any events or deadlines, and help us stay in closer touch with the community on those platforms. Previous experience in this field is recommended.
Marketing Personnel - Members of the marketing team will work together to help promote events, products, and services by the league through internal coordination and planning, external social media announcements through Discord, Steam group, forums, etc; and other social media platforms.
Experience in these fields is preferred. Feel free to apply again if you have applied for any of these positions and have not received a response or been selected.
If you would like to apply, you can fill out a form here. From there, we will go through the submissions and potentially ask for a follow-up. If you have any questions regarding positions, feel free to open a ticket in our Discord.
PSA Regarding P-RECWith the P-REC (demo recording tool) no longer working for the 64-bit TF2 update, we recommend players use either the in-game demo support or manually record their demos through the developer console. Instructions for how to set this up can be found in our Recording POV guide.
Please note that whichever method you use to record POV demos, it is a player’s responsibility to record their POV demos for each match. All POV demos must be a .dem file recorded in TF2 (e.g. TF2’s built-in recording system or by typing “record (demoname)” in the console).
Reiterating Competitive Plugins StancesWith recent discussions requesting the use of more competitive plugins that either fix or change gameplay in TF2, this section is meant to reiterate RGL’s stance on these plugins. An emphasis must be placed on plugins that alter the mechanics or balance of the game. These are considered more controversial as they would fall under the category of “promods” as they tweak weapons, mechanics, or settings in the base TF2 game.
Criteria that have led to acceptance in the past:
Whether the plugins have a supermajority approval rating (75% or higher)
Whether the plugins are supported for both Windows and Linux servers
Whether the plugins fix bugs that were previously introduced by a TF2 update
What has been controversial and are settings that RGL have disabled:
Whether the plugins turn off settings enabled by Valve or revert changes in previous updates that alter the game. (These are classified as features and not fixes)
Whether the plugins change the gameplay, such as affecting the balancing of a weapon or class
These are important notes to be made as “promod features” that change core mechanics deviate further from the base TF2 game. In our past survey results here, promod features that were not added did not poll above the 75% approval rating threshold or were met with skepticism by players regarding their impact on gameplay. Additionally, commands that do not work on Windows servers are a heavy consideration on whether they are accepted in the RGL configs. This is to ensure parity between servers rented or owned by players through dedicated providers and league rules. With Windows servers support being depreciated, v1.16.12 is the last version that is being required in the RGL configs. Anything past this version results in unsupported features not being installed on Windows.
