@BoiSlipp the reason lower level players get dominated by stuff like this is just that. they’re lower level players. learning to adapt to small things like that is part of the game. the other team’s sniper is almost never going to be fully buffed doing this peek, and if your sniper full charge bodyshots them and they don’t die because the rest of your team isn’t spamming the sniper… tough luck.
this issue is not widespread. even if it were widespread, i don’t think it should be banned because it’s just awareness of how the game works. it’s not unfair enough that it will likely change the outcome of a game and it’s beatable; one long range soldier rocket puts them in range of a bodyshot.
also, idk where you’re getting the “still somehow manage to hit the 1 pixel of their hitbox that’s sticking out, they’ll be alive and you will be headshotted because the glitch-abusing sniper is gonna see you way earlier than you will see them”. this is COMPLETELY untrue. source engine has peeker’s advantage; the peeker, as long as they’re peeking far from a corner, will see the side of the other sniper before the other sniper can see any part of them. even ignoring peeker’s advantage - half of the sniper’s hitbox is sticking out, not 1 pixel lmao

I think it would benefit anyone looking at this thread to have context on ghost before using your time to try out for their team.
Her plan to “move up” with a previous advanced team didn’t work out because they were cut.
She is not “subbing” in invite, she paid for a roster spot.
Doesn’t have any experience playing at a level higher than 3rd place advanced.
First two sentences of this thread are really misleading, be aware what you’re getting yourself into in case it falls apart or isn’t what you were looking for. -

The only redeeming point on that map is the 2nd point; every other point is so terrible that it’s not even worth looking at. It was consistently ranked as the least popular map in the rotation in UGC when it was played, and for good reason. There have been 0 changes to either of these maps since they were tested and written off. The developers are either inactive or do not care about the map enough to make further changes. Please god do not use nostalgia-tainted lenses to trick yourself into thinking either of these maps were good to play.

I seriously doubt that galaxy is capable of playing as a functioning team member. He is narcissistic, arrogant, and stubborn - the worst qualities of a potential teammate. He will shut down any criticism of his gameplay and mock you for it. Multiple high invite spies have tried to give him advice only to be met with such. If you’re a low/mid invite team leader - good luck ever getting galaxy to “try his very hardest and learn strategies and tactics”. He’s a hothead with no regards for anything except his own stats and getting clips. Not at all what you want from a spy player. You’d be better off having an off classer play spy and just communicate the sniper’s location the whole game than galaxy, because ironically the best thing the spy can do (communicate the sniper) galaxy pathologically does not do.

RE: Unban The Scorch Shot
All of the data analysis in this thread completely ignores what was the primary reason for banning the scorch in my view. It is far more effective than any secondary at pressuring any player that is away from their medic.
A direct hit from the scorch shot not only stuns a player for half a second (allowing them to be more easily shot by your teammates) but also hits a second time, doing about ~60 damage on direct hit, and with afterburn, does over 125hp. The detonator does not do this. This is why there isn’t much of an outcry to ban the detonator - sure it’s really good damage over time, and that’s annoying. But it does not guarantee kills for your teammates the way the scorch shot does. And I haven’t even mentioned how much the scorch shot affects heavy players - on product, for example, a heavy pushing through dogbread is pretty standard, and a scorch shot direct pushes the heavy back a significant amount, as well as ruins his healrate.
I played sniper while the scorch shot was unbanned, and I can tell you with certainty that the scorch is far more annoying to play against than the detonator. It just straight up does damage faster than the det because of the direct hit hitting twice. It gives pyro far more freedom to “fire and forget” so to speak - spamming the sniper with the scorch shot does not take as much attention from the pyro as spamming the detonator.
Your argument about how “annoying” weapons like the Natascha and DR aren’t banned is flawed, because these weapons are undeniably not as viable for full time use as much as the scorch shot is. The Natascha straight up does less damage than stock and tomislav, and the DR makes opportunities the invis watch can give impossible. -
RE: RGL HL 2023: Expanding the Prizepool
Preventing money-incentivized sandbagging is pretty simple, make the payout for first place advanced be worth less than last place invite. Make fees for main and advanced, no prizepool for main, small prizepool for advanced, majority prizepool invite. That incentivizes players to try to move up and do better every season instead of stagnating, and it also helps invite with the problem of teams threatening to die if they don’t get to play their sweet sweet advanced sandbag season.

the only current issue with class restrictions is when it happens in lower divs really… most admins/mods have generally good judgement what invite players should be restricted from their main class in advanced. i feel like whenever a player isn’t restricted in advanced when maybe they should be is when nobody brings it up to the admins.
