When do you get comp medals, when you win your first match or win in a season?

You get a medal sometime after the end of the season. It will either say that you participated in the season, or if you place it will say that you got 1st, 2nd, or 3rd.

Well, for IM (Intermediate) and above, you’ll get a 1st/2nd/3rd medal if you place. For Amateur and Newcomer, there are only participation medals. This is to discourage higher level players from trying too hard to sandbag in those beginner-oriented divisions for the sake of getting a shiny placement medal.

In ugc when I played it was approximately a year after the season ended :^)
