RGL PUGs Feedback
-
pugs were nuts
-
HL pugs were great. They brought higher skill players and the people were very accommodating when it came to choosing classes. I’m not sure how good of an example these pugs are, because not every pug is going to have such flexible players. I can imagine if its like the typical PL pug, some sort of conflict will come up from being put on a class or how they are performing. 10/10 tho so far

@vibeisveryo i had alot of fun and i thought it worked out well

the HL pugs that were just ran felt balanced enough, I had a good time. I feel like they could stick around just fine if they keep like this

dropping this here because it was asked for and i spent 5 minutes writing it
the admin team and rgl as a whole can benefit greatly from approaching decisions from a much more analytical nature. it doesnt feel like decisions with the pugs are being made by weighing all the upsides and downsides, but rather that you see a possible downside from making a decision, and thus avoid it altogether. examples for this are not adding someone to the pug team because youre not 100000% sure that they wouldnt make a mistake, instead of understanding that adding certain people with experience playing and running pugs to admin would greatly improve the pugging experience as a whole, and provide much better and targeted feedback to the rest of the team. a small thing like not adding chat to the website or not allowing threads on discord because they are harder to moderate is another example. yea there will be moments where the bad result of unmoderated chat for an hour will come up, but that is far outweighed by the updside if having instant communcation for pugs where they are happening/much more focused feedback. i think there are many more xamples which i would be happy to go into detail if this being heard but i dont weant to speak to the void. feel free to dm me or respond here.

realizing this might be the wrong thread for this so feel free to move this to the appropiate thread but this is what happy purple linked.
happy purple dmed me for more feedback and i typed this all up in dms but want to post it publicly as well.
i think while the current pug team is made up of the pug creator(who while i appreciate his work and think he has the right intentions, is a really bad face for pugs), and other people who have a stellar personality and who wont really fuck anything up, but have a lack of experience with pugs and dont seem to understand the playerbase. getting a couple of wholesome invite players to at least advise on decisions for pugs will add a lot of insight to your team on what would be good for pugs and what would make people happy. it will also just inherently be an encouraging sight for players to see as a. they have been asking for this for a while and it would generally appease them, and its encouraging for players to know that top players have a say. while appeasing players of course cant be the basis for decision making, it absolutely should be a factor and i think that is something that is overlooked by the current team, ESPECIALLY dolphin. there also should be a bit more of a focus on invite players, because like it or not, the invite players are the most dedicated group of puggers and without them it is really hard to maintain a successful pug group(admittedly not impossible)

Thanks for sharing your perspective, see my attached notes for a (mostly tangential) overview of my future plans and aspirations for the pugs.

in addition to the above, I should say, in a more on-topic vain than above, adding people to the team specifically because of their good reputation, connections, ect has been something we’ve considered in the past, but not something that’s gone far in practice. In case you guys didnt want to read allthat, i’ll put the final paragraph here for easy reading:Final thoughts, and to get off the tangent train and back on track with your initial comments to me, it’s true that PUG runners will be more or less obsolete under the pug site framework. While there are some wacky ideas I can’t talk about because they go over my head, I can say that because the pug site presents a fundamental paradigm shift in the needs of the pug team some changes in roles and responsibilities will be conducive to keeping the ship running. We have not decided what exactly those changes will look like, I’m interested in the idea of having staff specifically dedicated to community outreach, and am interested in hearing proposals from any takers as to what exactly that could look like. Keep in mind that because these pugs are open to everyone in order to facilitate new player involvement any plan to have community outreach/representation will have to allow for reps from both sides of the skill and experience perspectives. I will say, while I’m not a fan of the status quo if it’s not the best current solution, I don’t have final say over absolutely everything that goes on in RGL pugs, please don’t decide for yourself a certain way of doing things is the only way of doing things, you’ll be setting yourself up for disappointment.

malarkeyman Darzie isn’t on the pug team anymore, so i’ll answer your question for them; We currently run 6s and HL off of the pug site and HL and PL in discord pugs. We used to run PL exclusively in the past because in addition to PL being a major format back in the day, PL allowed new players to get logs on any class they wanted to play, unlike 6s, and start games with four fewer players. Players always had at least three choices of class to play available to them in PL pugs, but roles are more static in 6s and hl. One of our major goals with PUGs is to be accessible to new players,
