Hey what's going on in Advanced
-
Why not just add a bye week to advanced? Is it really better to try to force teams to play a higher div, just for them to die? There is a clear lack of advanced ready teams this season, and now every team has to suffer because of a forced 8 team format? Woooo Iām having a really good time not playing because Iām not allowed to off-class in the division below

Advanced admin here. Lost in costco was chosen to move up to advanced today after a team confirmed to have died today. You guys were chosen based on overall roster experience. Currently on your roster you have 3 players that played in grand finals in advanced last season. 2 players that won main last season, also including teats blnkt which both have extensive seasons of invite and advanced. Sorry that as the advanced admin I had faith in you guys being able to compete. You guys can blame me all you want for your team death but I didnāt press the button.

Normally I would have loved to be āselected to the opportunity to play in advanced this seasonā except for the fact that most of my team and I donāt want to play our main classes this season and, in my case, my scout experience is mid main at best. We are not here to further our tf2 careers. My team is not keen on getting shitstomped in advanced unless most of our players mainclass again. Itās also funny how we found out from someone randomly checking our team page instead of actually letting us know. I wonder how many teams will die until advanced gets a bye week lmao.
That being said, if sniper is banned this season and the game goes to 8v8 all will be forgiven

JohhnyFromCali The issue that Lost in Costco has is they got zero communication about the change.
Also as someone who has played in both main & advanced in previous seasons, I got used to players getting top two in advanced, then can continue to play main or advanced on those classes without restrictions. Saying a team of off-class players have the same experience as teams who arenāt off classing is totally wrong. An advanced medic doesnāt have experience playing a combat class. You need to accept that there is not 8 advanced ready teams this season and adjust the division accordingly, either with a smaller team size, or adding a bye team. Forcing 8 teams into the top 3 divisions while there is not the player base for it is not the move.

as somebody who has been on the getting moved up side of this, if you are upset that you are going to get shitrolled that is the risk you take by making an āoffclassā team. I had the same reaction s1 of prolander and got called out for it then. 8 team RR is good and it might even make you better at your offclasses, having to rise to the competition instead of troll in the lower div.

I just want to play pyro in main dang it!

you do realize this is the same thing that is happening to invite nearly every season? not enough āinviteā level teams have signed up so the bottom teams added to invite or invite qualifiers threaten to die despite evidence suggesting they are in the top 8 best teams signed up. if you really think that worsening the format for advanced by adding a default bye week and just moving the title of āworst team in advancedā to the 2nd worst team is the best idea I think you should sit back and reflect on how a league works. the border between divisions is arbitrary, invite is simply the best 8 teams (as chosen by the admin team based on experience and results). advanced is the next 8. being upset that you have been selected as the most likely 8th best team in advanced does not change the fact that that means you fall in the advanced div. also, to the āno one let us know we had to check our rgl pageā that is not something that has been done for advanced unless you are placed in qualifiers. we do not message you while doing placements.
anyway the point of my rant is that when there āarent 8 advanced teamsā sit back and think about what that means, because advanced is just the 8 best teams under invite
- also disclosure im not an admin currently my forum just isnt updated so this isnt an official statement in any way

Joey Lemons I get not telling teams what div they are during admin placement, but we were already placed in main and then moved to advanced while we would not have known if not for someone to randomly check the team page. I get that the admins are volunteers, but I would think having the courtesy of letting a team know their division will be moved up after being cleared and placed in a lower div is the bare fucking minimum of an adminās time and effort.

It was supposed to be my bad excuse for a ālast seasonā before I retired, but now I can finally escape my addiction to this game and not have my friends laugh at me when I need to leave to play ācompetitiveā tf2 at night.
For the record, your mod teams communication skills are dogshit, but I expect nothing more from unpaid freelance socially awkward 20-somethings attempting to organize a gaming league out of passion.

I thought I would clarify this especially since my goal is to increase communication between players and the Admin team. The previous Advanced team was officially recognized as dead on Tuesday, in which we spent the next day researching and determining the next best team to move up and fill the remaining slot. We had to be as time-efficient as possible since the upcoming season was coming up this weekend, so the next day, Wednesday evening, when our Advanced admins selected Lost in Costco, we promptly went into action.
Looking back on our discussion, at 9:34 PM EST Costco was moved up, and then across that hour we would set up the schedule for Advanced. At 10:29, the Advanced admin let us know that he was going to message the team about the move-up, but at 10:35 the team leader created a support ticket to discuss the division changeāpresumably before he had the opportunity to.
I wanted to go into detail about this to clear up the idea that we planned to silently move up a team and not inform them. This is not the case. We were looking to inform them during the same night that we needed them to fill the slot and contact the team leader directly. It was unfortunate that we could not reach out before the team took initiative. I do agree however that we could have been more prompt and messaged them before moving the team a couple of hours earlier though and weāve already talked about messaging teams beforehand from now on.
