Competitive 12s Concept

Would encourage pushes and flanks working together on offense and defense and would ensure that combos aren’t too small to be effective.
Less reliant on solo fights, encourages more team play.Weapon Whitelist (just a concept, subject to change)
Standard highlander weapon bans with following exceptions (based on UGC Highlander Season 25 whitelist)Ban
Phlogistonator - Downside doesn’t negate upside enough, especially if there are two pyros on the team
Scorch Shot - Much too spammable down a choke point.
Back Scratcher - Greatly rewards a flank playstyle with a downside that rarely affects a flank playstyle.
Wrangler - Ability to tank a sentry and make a push much harder for no real downside other than it replaces the pistol.Allow
Air Strike - Fairly balanced weapon that rewards covering fire. Has the ability to output massive damage at full clip size but any competent sniper can make short work of it
Short Circuit - Replaces a powerful secondary, gives the ability to protect a nest for a short time. Maybe disallow in payload?Class limit of 2, to prevent stacking but also allow for backup on either team if planned correctly
Not required to have every class in play, allows for strategic class switching when needed.Maps would consist of mainly three stage payload and attack/defend maps, some 5cp, no koth as it would be chaos in 12s
Stopwatch timer on attack/defend and payload, best out of three for 5cp.
Maps:
Pl
Swiftwater
Hoodoo
ThundermountainA/D
Egypt
Gravelpit5cp
Well
Gorge
Badlands

There is a huge difference between threads and posts. What I usually delete are your guy’s funny shit posts on threads that the author did not post in a funny shit post capacity.
Take this thread for instance. Not a single one of those posts did anything to contribute to this thread.
I get that you all want to shit-post. And I am perfectly fine with that as long as you keep it to the correct threads. I am not however, going to allow you guys to shit-post on threads that people posted in a serious capacity, regardless if you think its serious or not.

thank you moderator for your vigilance and thank you taco bell gaming for this post. how do you suppose we can put this theory into action? I would like to see a playtest.
-
I think there should still only be 1 sniper allowed. 2 snipers would be kinda buns to play against, especially on Thunder Mountain

Our posts contributed our unmoved disapproval of competitive 12s. Anyone with functioning literary analysis skills could understand our comments were meant as DISAPPROVAL. If this thread is supposed to be a “suggestion” for RGL, I think it’s very IMPORTANT that RGL knows how it’s players disapprove of the idea.
-
I feel like all of these problems could be solved with a dislike/downvote button.
-
@firepow Or you could just ignore the thread if you don’t think it’s worth discussing. Which is what I was doing until I saw folks being silly in the thinkpan.
Since I am posting, however – @OP, plenty of people already can’t handre 9v9, they’re not going to go for 12v12. HL already isn’t about solo fights (and really I doubt sixes is wholly either) and all three RGL formats have combo/flank dynamics already. Furthermore, the maps you proposed include some of the worst, chokiest/most sightline-riddled/etc. maps. If you are wondering why people responded the way they did, some of them are probably just trolls and others of them probably genuinely assumed you were trolling due to the reasons I’ve enumerated. If you weren’t trolling, now you know.

I agree with the banning of the Scorch Shot and Phlogistinator and Backscratcher and the unbanning of the Short Circuit. However, we think we should also ban the Kunai for it is extremely overpowered in a 12v12 setting.
-
I will support this idea if and only if we allow the machina to stay unbanned
-
imagine trying to push into badlands last just to met met face to face with 2 demos 2 engineers 2 heavies 2 medics 2 snipers and 2 pyros as they deny the 2 ubers that took you a minute to build and another half minute to organize
-
Or maybe we could stick with 9?
-
this all sounds like just hell, like 50 firecrackers with a lit match rolling towards them.
12v12 is casual for a reason. Highlander 9v9 exists for a reason. However, that’s not my only point. Have you ever been in a 9v9 pug or scrim and just felt that it was too chaotic? Especially on koth maps like Product, comms flooding, everyone dying, I feel more paranoid than anything because at any point and time your med drops uber and you gotta wait a minute just to make an attempt to push back to point. 12v12 sounds even more chaotic, can you imagine 12 people in one discord voice chat? I’m not going to target exact weapon bans or whether or not the meta should change, I’m overall concerned with the stability of the gamemode itself. On top of that, having more than 2 of one class in a competitive mode outside of 6s is actually just pain. What classes would be doubled? Medics? Sounds like more paranoia having to watch your metaphorical 2 thin glass vases not fall onto your hardwood floor and shatter. 2 snipers is just plain dumb, all they would do is target each other the entire time. 2 Heavies is something this earth should never experience especially on Payload maps, 2 demos… I’m gonna let you picture that one. 2 spies? Hell naw.
If this ever does come into play, I’d rather it be a chill pug system. Maybe it could be a thing where if you want to play a casual game with more skilled players instead of pubstomping and dealing with bots constantly. A little like creators.tf, except more exclusive.

You got a vendetta against the rake or something?
As an aside, I think there was a tournament that basically had this format at one point like 10 years ago. Pretty much was a joke, but if you can find footage that may give you an idea. Demo was very good in it from what I remember. Wish I could remember the name of that tournament.
