Hi everyone, it’s getting close to the start of the season so I’m opening up some available times for lower level mentoring!
Most of you might know me as a player or the owner of Witness Gaming! I try and do a little bit of mentoring per season just to give some of what I know to players and teams trying to improve!
I have been mentoring teams for a decently long time (~2017-2023) and have a pretty decent amount of content specifically for less experienced players or teams to use! I’m a pretty big fan of map reviews, general TF2 theory, and have written multiple in-depth guides on staple maps in the HL rotation that break down how to correctly understand and play each map.
I’m pretty confident in teaching teams how to communicate better and I’d say my biggest strength is in teaching HL TF2 at a level that’s foundational while also showing different ways to play that might appeal to different teams preferences. It’s more important to me to teach the fundamental “Why?” so players can be more fundamentally sound going forward into the competitive career.
I can also mentor individual classes as well! I can provide pretty in-depth feedback for Heavies, Soldiers, Spies, and Scouts in the form of personal demo/map reviews. I also value helping players find good mental mindsets to grow and compete.
If you’re a team or player looking to try and have a season of growth, I’m more than happy to help! I just ask that mentees come to me with a clear and focused mindset on improving and learning above all else.
If I have time, I don’t mind sitting in and doing live reviews of scrims but this is very limited and may be unavailable depending on the weeks.
Feel free to add me on Steam (please comment before adding me!) or shoot me a DM on Discord @ Witness#3415 with your team, division, and anything you may need help with in the form of a question and Ill try my best to get back to you! I’m pretty busy but I try and get back to as many people as possible!

Invite and Advanced will also be offered the option to vote out one map and vote in two more, for a total of nine maps. This voting will take place after registration closes, once teams have been placed. The Invite and Advanced admins will reach out to teams in both divisions and provide them with a google form where they can vote. Please note that the alternative 5cp map will not apply to Invite and Advanced, as these divisions will continue doing pick/bans for map selection instead of a weekly map rotation.

Season ChangesIn response to various feedback, we’re trying out a variety of new things for this season, all of which are listed below.
Changes to Restrictions and Sandbagging PoliciesWe’ve updated our sandbagging policies and roster restriction policies to address holistically strong rosters. In the past, we’ve allowed for entire teams to move down a division provided every player receives a class restriction. However, this has typically shown to not be effective, as the entire team still has synergy and experience from the previous higher division that allow them to perform extremely well in the lower division. As such, we are now restricting all rosters to no more than 4 main class restrictions per 6s roster. This means that you can have no more than 4 different players on a roster that have a restriction on either scout, soldier or demo. We’ll monitor how this new change affects sandbagging this season, and see if the rule needs to be revisited. For more information of class and roster restrictions, please see Rule 1006.2.5 - Sandbagging and Class Restrictions.
Format Wide Config ChangesWhile configs will remain the same for the Newcomer and Amateur divisions, Intermediate divisions and above will be using the progressive config. This config has a first to 5 win limit for the first 30 minutes, and after 30 minutes has passed, the win limit is reduced to 1+ the current max number of rounds a team has scored. For example, if after 30 minutes the current round score is 3-1, the new round win limit will be reduced to 4. At the moment, there is no upper bound on how long matches will run, but thorough testing shows matches will typically last between 40-50 minutes. Even so, since IM, Main, and Advanced have not ran the config yet, we will be monitoring match length closely and, if needed, will add an overall max match time limit after week two in the season. This config will be named rgl_6s_5cp_match_pro.cfg for 5cp, and rgl_6s_koth_pro.cfg.
Round timers will be reduced to 4 minutes for every div.
The config has been uploaded to RGL’s git for server updates.
Whitelist ChangesIn the post s10 survey, 41% of polled players voted to unban the Buffalo Steak Sandvich, 31% voted to keep it banned, and the remaining 28% were neutral. In the spirit of change, we’re unbanning the Buffalo Steak Sandvich this season. We will be monitoring games to see how this item impacts game flow, if it does at all.

In my professional opinion, vod uploading is basic level stuff; hence why I view that as a criticism. If we are failing at the basic aspects of production then that brings into question the bigger picture things that are hugely important.
You do bring up a good point with YouTube however. Its one of the reasons I moved my church to YouTube for our livestreams. Twitch is not how people get into tf2; YouTube is a much better platform to grow your audience and to take advantage of their algorithms. Not to mention the fact that the moment streams are done on YouTube; the vod is immediately available at full quality.

If you have seen Trial By Fireside before, we normally cover 6s but we’re starting to branch into Highlander and do some Newcomer & Amateur coverage.
Thus, I’m looking for some casters with highlander brain. I have some brain but my last time playing HL was S1 in Intermediate, plus I’m producing/observing 🙂
For those who don’t know what Trial By Fireside is, it’s coverage of Newcomer/Amateur that I originally started for Fireside Casts 2 seasons ago and I want to try to continue it with Highlander this season.
Our original post –
*For RGL S9, deltamarket, antlers and I will be producing weekly matches throughout the season for Amateur and Newcomer divisions. The aim of this project is to provide consistent coverage for the newcomer and amateur division–something that hasn’t really been done before in lower RGL and UGC divisions in the past. Our goal is not only will newer players the ability to have their games casted, but to also provide an informative and more insightful stream for players new to TF2 with limited knowledge on the concepts of 6s in general.
We expect to be covering throughout the regular season and playoffs. The regular season’s casts will be casted with a mix of casting and demo reviewing. But, for playoffs, we’ll try to take a backseat on the reviewing and provide a more realistic cast like casts in other divisions.
We’ll be catering towards players new to TF2 with limited knowledge about 6s and how to play it. We want to provide information on how to play the map in certain scenarios and analyzing the teams’ mistakes and what they can do better throughout the cast. This would help newer players who want to get better at certain maps, maybe individually, or with their team as they understand the match as it’s played in real time rather than watching a demo review from a twitch stream or youtube video.*
You can catch our casts on
. See you next season! Our current lineup is:
grey (unavailable though until playoffs)
Godfather
Xenagos
Me (producer/observer)Feel free to contact me on Discord – siyo#5532.
Cheers!
